Kidman Wins! Captains, Owen Matz, Tahlia Wendt, Vice Captains, Jayden Matz, Meg Shanahan and Junior Captains, Henry Stoddard and Maggie Shanahan enjoy the team success
Congratulations Kidman on their Athletics day win. The day was well attended with participation rates extremely high. There was strong competition across the day with Kidman excelling on the track.
A special thanks to our Sports Co-ordinator, Mr Mark Leslie, for his outstanding organisation. Events like this do not just happen and many extra hours were put in to make it a highly successful day. Mark's level of organisation has been exceptional throughout both the swimming and athletics program this term. Thank you also to our grounds person, Mr Steve O’Donnell, for his presentation of the oval and considerable work in supporting Mark with the ‘set up’ in the days leading up to the event.
Congratulations to all age division winners and runners up. It was also great to see a record broken on the day with two students breaking the same long jump record with Jayden Matz ultimately taking the record.
Berry Street Training
All teaching and support staff were involved in the Berry Street Education training last Thursday and Friday. The focus of the training is to support staff and students to be present, centred and ready to learn in the classroom. There is a strong focus on understanding students from a trauma background with the strategies supporting all learners in the school. The training covered two of the four domains within the Berry Street Education Model with a strong emphasis on providing a safe and predictable learning environment with an importance on relating and belonging.
Upcoming Parent Teacher Interviews
Information will be coming home shortly to advertise the upcoming dates for Parent Teacher Interviews, to be held on Tuesday, 6 April and Wednesday, 7 April.
This is an opportunity for parents to meet with teachers to discuss student progress. Staff welcome the opportunity to discuss the learning and achievement as strong partnerships with families helps to foster success.
A reminder that the Daymap Parent Portal provides parents and caregivers with access to additional information on your child's progress. Parents can use the portal to connect with teaching staff if they have any concerns or questions. With this in mind it is important to consider a number of things:
- If the issue is urgent, it is still advisable that you ring Reception.
- Generally speaking, it cannot be expected that teachers will be accessing their emails or DayMap messages late at night or over the weekend. (they will most likely to get back to you over the next 24-48 hours).
- A number of our staff work part-time so may not check their messages on a day when they are not on site.
- Similarly, if a teacher is sick or taking another form of leave, it is unlikely that they will respond on that day.
- If you have not had a reply within a few days, please contact Reception and check that the message has been received.
Students are also encouraged to also contact their teachers out of class time using DayMap – especially when they are having difficulty with the learning. This is a great way of alerting teachers where there is a problem however they should not expect an overnight response.

Hey! I’m Ella Thorne and I have been working at Kapunda High since term 3, 2020. In my short time here, I have loved working with and getting to know the incredible personalities at KHS. Outside of work, you will find me playing netball or tennis, or studying at uni.
Friday, 9 April is the last day of term 1 and dismissal will be at 2:15pm. Student reports will be available at assembly prior to dismissal.
