Deputy Head Prefect, Tess Gerhardy, Head Prefects, William Gambling and Ailee Craig with Deputy Head Prefect, Angus Godfrey following the Prefect and SRC Induction Ceremony
End of Term Arrangements
As we enter the final weeks of term one, staff are finalising assessments and have started the process of generating school reports. We are trialling a change in the timing of Parent/Student/Teacher Interviews this year, booking information is available in this newsletter and has been emailed to families with interviews being held on Tuesday, 6 April in Kapunda and Wednesday, 7 April in Freeling.
The final day of the term is Friday, April 9. Dismissal will be at 2:15pm. Parent consent is requested for students to be dismissed at 2:15pm. Forms were sent home and need to be signed and returned. There will be normal lessons until lunch time. After lunch we will have our traditional final assembly followed by the distribution of printed reports for all students. At the assembly, we will present our Personal Best awards for students who have gained ‘EXCELLENT EFFORT’ in all or most subjects across the term.
Term 2 will commence on Tuesday, April 27.
End of Term Report Distribution
All Year 8-12 students will be issued with a hard-copy summary report at the end of the term.
Please note that with the exception of the Year 8 Arts/Digital Technology rotation, all grades are PROGRESSIVE and may only be based on a small number of summative assessment pieces at this stage of the year.
This report should be read in conjunction with the DayMap continuous reports that are available through the Parent Portal. All parents have been emailed a log in and password. If you have misplaced this, please contact our IT Network Manager, Jack Mickan - dl.0779.ictadmin@schools.sa.edu.au or phone 08 8566 2203.Through the Parent Portal, parents can access individual assessment results and read comments that highlight strengths and areas for improvement. Term one achievement information will be available early to families who attend parent/student/teacher interviews.
For students who are absent from school on the final day of school, reports will be able to be accessed via DayMap from Friday afternoon.
Please note, students who simply ‘stay away from school’ on the final day of school are not able to collect their reports on that day. Where students are genuinely ill, parents are welcome to collect reports after 2:30pm on Friday. Families will be unable to collect reports on the Monday of the first week of holidays as the school site will be closed on Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 April, for asbestos removal as part of the new building redevelopment.

Prefect & Student Representative Induction Ceremony
This year's Prefects and Student Representatives for 2021 were formally inducted in a special ceremony on Friday, 19 March, in front of special guests, school families, students and staff. The SRC mentors, Miss Natasha Koritsa and Miss Brianna Falland led the Induction Ceremony.
Deputy Principal, Mrs Elizabeth Gary-Smith welcomed guests to the ceremony and spoke of the importance and responsibility of the role of Prefects and SRC members. Our SRC contribute to decision making to effect changes and improvements in a number of focus areas in the school. She encouraged student leaders to be innovative in their approach to inclusive activities and events throughout the year.
We welcomed guest speaker, 2011 Deputy Head Prefect, Holly Munro nee Phillips, who gave encouragement to students to embrace the opportunities in their role and to ensure their behaviour in the school and wider community is reflective of the leadership role.
Upon completion of her secondary schooling at Kapunda, Holly studied interstate at Avondale College and then pursued a career in primary school education. Holly spoke of her experience during her studies in teaching at an orphanage in Cambodia and though she found the experience challenging, became resourceful and appreciative of the blessing of education. She urged students to not take their educational opportunities for granted. Teaching at Darling Downs Christian College in Queensland, she worked with students with diverse backgrounds, including refugees. As a home parent of two young children, Holly now works with a team of women who go out into their community, visiting women trapped in a form of slavery to support them in finding their freedom. She hinted of the tragic circumstances in which women in Australia can find themselves - even in small country communities.
Holly encouraged all students to acknowledge their influence of others; particularly student leaders to lead with integrity and humility, being gracious and accepting of advice from wiser others. Proudly representing their school and considering their ‘influence’ in the community.
Mr Tony Pasin, MP presented prefects and student representatives with their badges following the Oath of Office, lead by Head Prefects, William Gambling and Ailee Craig.
The year 12 ensemble with Jasmin Bevan, Hayden Daly, Thomas Daff and Tahlia Wendt, gave a terrific performance.
Following the ceremony, a morning tea prepared by the Year 11 Food & Hospitality class was enjoyed by guests, staff, Prefects and SRC members on the lawn in front of Eringa.
