Year 12 Formal
The Year 12 Formal was held recently on Thursday 14th March and was a great moment to acknowledge the achievements and aspirations of our final year students. The evening featured a good deal of reflection of students’ learning experiences throughout their time at Kapunda High School, as well as much optimism for their future. There was also a great sense of school community, highlighting the many strengths which our school has to offer. Well done to all students and staff involved in planning, organising and running the event including Mrs Samain, Mrs Warner and Mrs Makenzie.
Howard Mutton Memorial Shield
On Friday 15th February, we had a special guest from School Sport SA, Mrs Paula Nielsen (Vice-Chair),
This is a prestigious state-wide shield that is awarded to a school in SA each year based on their achievement, involvement and competitiveness across the many school sports on offer. With an ongoing run of sporting successes over the past few years, Kapunda High School was awarded the shield for 2023. A big congratulations to HPE Coordinator Mr Leslie, who has been instrumental and dedicated in leading school sports at KHS for a number of years and also an acknowledgement to Miss Falland, the HPE staff, volunteers and students for their ongoing involvement.
Conditions for Learning
To uphold and foster a school environment that is conducive to learning and where everyone can be and achieve at their best, we have clarified our Conditions for Learning for our whole school community. This includes:
- SunSmart rules and practices.
- Mobile Phone and Personal Electronic devices policy
- School Uniform
- School Lockers and Bags
- Academic Assessment Policy
This is complemented by our School House Culture, with individual Positive Recognition points, House Points and individual infringement points.
I thank you for your partnership in upholding our Conditions for Learning and contributing to the fine culture of success at our school. Please remember to communicate with the school if you have any queries about our Conditions for Learning or your child requires further support.
Final Weeks Term 1

Following on from Term 1 Traffic Light Indicators and Continuous Assessment (DayMap), please reach out and work in partnership with Subject Teachers to discuss any queries and negotiate proactive strategies to help students’ grow their learning and achievement.

Canteen Volunteers Needed
Volunteers play a vital role in our school canteen being able to offer a wide variety of healthy food to our students and staff at recess and lunch times. Volunteers are encouraged to come and help in our canteen - even for an hour. Assistance during the peak preparation times, between 10:00am and 2:00pm would be most valued and appreciated. And of course, a regular commitment would enable us to better plan the menu in advance.
What hoops do I need to jump through?
Yes, there is some paperwork and some legal requirements such as completing the online Responding to Abuse and Neglect (RAN-EC) course and having a Working With Children Check (WWCC). Kaye Clancy can assist with beginning the process of applying for the WWCC, which is free to our volunteers. There will also be a general induction with the Department for Education and we will share other important information before you begin.Call the school and ask to speak either to Kaye or Meagan, if you'd like to learn more about the kind of help our canteen requires.
If you're keen to begin, please contact Kaye on (08) 8566 2203.
On Thursday 21st March, KHS hosted the Lower North Athletics Carnival.
The organisation of Mr Leslie, Miss Falland and many other staff and students ensured the day went smoothly.
The KHS girls team won, and the KHS boys were only a few points behind to place second.
KHS was the overall winner.
Thank you to Balaklava HS, Burra HS, Clare HS and Riverton & District HS for being excellent competitors.
Congratulations to all the students involved!
