From our Principal
Welcome to our School Newsletter for Term 3 Week 5.
Australian Business Week
Many of our Year 11 students once again participated in ABW. This year's simulation centered around creating a business identity associated with sports technology. Students worked in teams competing against each other and were judged on their success in simulation, marketing video, trade display, along with reports and presentations from the CEO, finance, and team. Thank you to our invited community members and staff mentors who supported throughout the week with mentoring, advice, and judging on the Friday.
Work Experience
Last week, the majority of our Year 10 students undertook Work Experience at a range of workplaces both locally, regionally, and in other parts of South Australia. The work experience program provides a valuable opportunity for students to explore future career opportunities, and to build confidence by challenging themselves in new ways.
Subject Selection
The Subject Selection and Course Counselling process has started for all students in preparation for next year. Parent meetings will take place in Week 6 for SACE students to assist with student choices that support future pathways. Year 10 lessons will be cancelled on Thursday, 4th September and Year 11 lessons cancelled on Friday, 5th September. This means Year 10 students are not required at school on the Thursday, and Year 11 students are not required on the Friday. If you are a parent/caregiver of a Year 10 or 11 student, please check your emails for information on booking a course counselling meeting if you have not already done so.
Preparations for the Remainder of Term
Kapunda High School has a planned Student Free Day: Tuesday, 2nd September for staff 'Berry Street' Training, whilst Monday, 1st September is a School Closure Day for the Royal Adelaide Show.
Country Cabinet
The Premier of South Australia, ministers, and members of the state government will host a public forum at Kapunda High School, as part of Country Cabinet Kapunda, to learn about what’s important to people living, working, and doing business in the region.
Country Cabinet is an opportunity to bring the community together with the state government to discuss what matters most to the region, and how the state government can support the community’s needs. Members of the public are invited to join on Monday, 25th August at Kapunda High School, West Terrace, Kapunda, with a free community BBQ from 4:30pm, followed by a public forum from 5:30–7pm.
Parent Survey
All families have been sent a link to the annual parent survey. Parents and carers of school-aged children and young people are invited to complete the annual parent survey.
Completing the annual parent survey will give Kapunda High School valuable feedback to help us understand:
• what we are doing well
• where we can improve
• what is most important to you as a parent.
The survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete.
